There are so many epic things to do in Breckenridge, Colorado whether you’re looking for unique outdoor adventures, quaint mountain shops, scenic views, or all of the above.

We’ve been to Breckenridge many times in all seasons and now we’re sharing our favorite things to do in Breckenridge, Colorado.

10 Epic Things to do in Breckenridge, Colorado

1. Visit the Breckenridge Troll

A fun activity for adults and kids alike, a visit to the Breckenridge Troll is a quick stop that is a must do for visitors to Breckenridge.

Also known as Isak Heartstone, the Breckenridge Troll is an iconic 15 foot high wooden sculpture that has become a very popular attraction.

The walk to the troll is 1.5 miles round trip and is relatively flat; however, the trial may be icy during the winter and require microspikes and/or boots with good traction.

The troll is made from recycled materials like wood and trees and the large sculpture makes a great photo opportunity.

2. Sapphire Point Overlook

One of our favorite overlooks in Colorado with minimal hiking required. The overlook is located between Keystone and Breckenridge and is easily accessible by car.

The trail to Sapphire Point Overlook is only 0.5 miles round trip with minimal elevation. During the winter, the trail can be extremely icy so be sure to check recent trail conditions on AllTrails.

This viewpoint can also get extremely windy so check weather conditions as well.

After a short walk, you’ll be treated to stunning views over Dillon Lake and the surrounding mountain ranges. There are additional trail systems from the overlook if you continue on the trail to the right of the overlook.

3. Go skiing/snowboarding

We couldn’t leave skiing and snowboarding off of our list of things to do in Breckenridge, Colorado! Breckenridge Resort is a world-class destination for skiing and snowboarding.

It’s a massive resort with five peaks and 187 trails and is perfect for beginner to advanced skiers and snowboarders. The runs are very wide compared to a lot of the resorts in Colorado which makes it a great place for intermediate levels to improve their skills as well.

The village at the resort is quaint with many cute shops, restaurants, and bars and the slopes are located very close to Main Street which is home to even more retail options.

4. Shop on Main Street

Main Street is full of delicious restaurants, local shops, well curated thrift stores, and cozy bars. Allocate some time to spend wandering the quaint street and popping into whatever shops catch your eye.

Some of our personal favorite shops and restaurants on Main Street in Breckenridge:

  • Bjorn’s Colorado Honey: a warm and inviting shop that sells local Colorado honey and honey products. They have many unique flavors and offer tastings in store.
  • Semplice Cafe: amazing fresh and healthy meals for breakfast and lunch with lots of vegan and vegetarian options. They have a large selection of toasts, smoothies, unique breakfast and lunch sandwiches, bagels, and salads.
  • Consignment Cabin: a well curated and affordable consignment store with many name brand outdoor clothing
  • Blue River Bistro: bistro serving classic American dishes with Mediterranean inspired touches in a casual, but chic setting

5. Go dog sledding

If you’re looking for a unique bucket list winter activity in Breckenridge, you have to add dogsledding to your list of things to do in Breckenridge, Colorado! We went dogsledding with Good Times Adventures and had an incredible experience.

The dogsledding tours can accommodate up to 6 people and it costs $160/person. On the 6 mile tour, you and your friends will be pulled by a team of excited Siberian Huskies.

There’s plenty of time for photo opportunities and playing with the dogs! On the tour, you’ll take turns riding and then being the musher. Learning how to mush a team of huskies is an unforgettable thing to do in Breckenridge!

Good Times Adventures also offers snowmobiling tours which would be another fun winter thing to do in Breckenridge, Colorado.

6. Hike Quandary Peak

For experienced hikers looking for an unforgettable bucket list hike in Breckenridge, Quandary Peak is an amazing option. Colorado is known for its “14ers”, mountains with elevation higher than 14,000 feet.

Colorado locals or visitors who love challenging themselves often summit one or more of these mountains over the summer. A lot of research is needed to prepare for these difficult hikes, but Quandary Peak makes a great first 14er for those looking for an adventure.

Quandary Peak is a strenuous trail that is 6.75 miles round with over 3,400 feet of elevation gain. It’s a great first 14er since it isn’t technical or exposed and no climbing experience is necessary.

7. Drink wine at the highest elevation winery in North America

Did you know Breckenridge is home to the highest elevation winery in North America?! This is a fun and unique thing to do in Breckenridge. The unique winery sits at an elevation around 9,600 feet.

Head to the winery to enjoy a tasting and learn about the unique wines grown on Colorado’s Western Slope. We enjoyed a visit to the winery after hiking Quandary Peak to celebrate our first 14er! Be sure to hydrate a to avoid the effects of altitude.

8. Stay at a cozy cabin

There’s nothing like cozy cabin vibes in a beautiful mountain town. We love Chestnut Hill Cabin, a beautiful four bedroom home located close the Main Street and Breckenridge Resort.

One of the major perks of a stay at Chestnut Hill Cabin is the free ski shuttle that takes you directly to the slopes from outside the front door!

The cabin also features an extra large hot tub surrounded by Aspen trees, a grill, large kitchen, and garage parking. The cabin is perfectly located to other outdoor adventures and is a great place to stay year round!

9. Try a local beer

You can’t visit Colorado without trying a local beer! Breckenridge Brewery is the perfect stop for beer lovers. Founded in 1990, Breckenridge Brewery is one of the oldest oldest craft breweries in the state.

They have multiple brewpubs across the state, but their original brewpub is located right in Breckenridge. They offer a wide variety of beers and a large selection of classic pub food at their brewpub.

Whether you’re a beer aficionado or just looking for a relaxing place to enjoy beer and food, Breckenridge Brewery is worthy of your list of things to do in Breckenridge, Colorado.

10. Paddle on Dillon Reservoir

Dillon Reservoir is located about 30 minutes north of Breckenridge, but it is well worth the trip! Dillon Reservoir is popular for boating, fishing, and sailing. You can even rent paddle boards from one of the several tour companies in the area.

Dillon Reservoir has a network of hiking and biking trails that offer scenic views of the surrounding mountains and the reservoir. There is a paved trail along the shore of the reservoir called the Summit County Recreation Path.
