Imagine a place where you can escape and get away from it all. A lot of people want that for a vacation, but it’s hard to find somewhere where you can truly disconnect and feel at peace. This luxury Fort Bragg hotel is one of those magical places.
Perched on the rugged Northern California coastline, the Inn at Newport Ranch boasts 9 luxurious rooms with private hot tubs, chef curated dinners, miles of private coastal hiking trails, and unique experiences. In this luxury Fort Bragg hotel review, we’ll discuss everything that made this stay so special.
Accommodation
This luxury Fort Bragg hotel is home to 9 unique rooms including the Grove Suite, a separate 2 bedroom suite that sleeps four. Each room is meticulously designed with natural materials including redwood trees and natural wood.
We stayed in the spacious Hearthstone Junior suite and enjoyed the large private deck with a hot tub and our suite had a personal fireplace for those chilly December nights.
The furnishings were beautiful and made us feel at home in our large suite! The main lodge is extremely cozy with lounging areas, multiple fireplaces, and huge windows.
Food
A delicious hearty breakfast and snacks are included in your stay and cocktails, beer, and wine are available for purchase. We loved that the gorgeous dining room was right next to the fireplace.
After we took a walk at sunrise, we cozied up with a book and a latte by the fireplace while we waited for our breakfast. In the dining room, you can look out to the sea while you eat thanks to the gorgeous windows.
Lunch is offered daily and the staff can prepare a picnic lunch for you to take on your adventure.
For dinner, there are options of the “Ranch Dinner” which is a lighter, family style option or a five to eight course meal. The chef sources ingredients from the ranch and the quality of the food is fantastic!
Property
The property alone is enough reason to stay at this luxury Fort Bragg hotel. The property is over 2,200 acres. Because the Inn is committed to sustainability, they source ingredients from the property and plant one redwood tree per guest.
There are miles of coastal hiking trails and redwood forests for guests to explore. The owner strategically placed benches with the most scenic views around the property for guests to enjoy.
It was like a scavenger hunt exploring to discover them! Our favorite was a bench that was just out of reach from giant waves crashing along the bluffs because we had so much fun wave watching.
Staff
We have to mention the staff while talking about this luxury Fort Bragg stay! The warm and welcoming staff crafts your experience to exactly what you’re looking for and can provide anything you need as well as make activity recommendations.
Experiences
The Inn offers several type of UTV tours, which is really the best way to get the lay of the land! The Inn offers tours mid morning and mid afternoon, and there are standard tours, picnic tours, and seasonal tours like mushroom foraging and a bee experience.
We did the four hour mushroom forging UTV tour consisting of an educational tour of the property and a short hike into the redwood forest. In the forest, we learned how to identify and forage for edible mushrooms.
We have never done anything like this and it was such a unique way to learn about mushrooms and the land. The property has a spa that offers massages, facials, yoga, sound healing, forest bathing, and more.
The staff can also help you book other activities in the area like horseback riding tours, skunk train tours, sea cave tours, or wine tasting.
Location
The Inn at Newport Ranch is located just north of downtown Fort Bragg. You won’t want to leave the property, but if you need to, there’s plenty of amenities nearby including restaurants, grocery stores, and souvenir shops.
If you’re looking for things to do in Fort Bragg on your way to or from the Inn, these were some of our favorite spots:
- Cowlick’s Ice Cream: small batch, handmade ice cream. The unique Candy Cap Mushroom Ice Cream is so tasty!
- Glass Beach: a must stop! Thanks to years of nearby trash dumping, the sand of Glass Beach is almost entirely sea glass. Keep in mind that it’s discouraged to take the sea glass.
- Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens: located between Mendocino and Fort Bragg, these beautiful gardens are home to native plants and flowers, gorgeous costal views, and miles of trails
- Noyo River Grill: we loved the food and vies so much that we ate here twice! We loved the baked oysters, shrimp tacos, and seafood cioppino.
We had the best time exploring on our Northern California road trip and staying at this luxury Fort Bragg hotel was definitely a highlight of our trip. We hope you get the chance to experience the magic and beauty of this stay!
